  2. Verify APEDA registration on the APEDA member portal
  3. Check FSSAI license on FoSCoS portal (foscos.fssai.gov.in)
  4. Request third-party lab COA for the specific batch you'll buy
  5. Request a video call or virtual factory tour
  6. Check the Spices Board of India exporter registry
  7. Request trade references from buyers in your country

Daley Global's IEC is AAMCD5005D and FSSAI is 11526998000301 — both publicly verifiable on government portals.

What is APEDA and why does it matter for spice imports?

APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) is the Indian government body that regulates and promotes exports of agricultural and processed food products, including spices.

An APEDA-registered exporter has an RCMC (Registration-cum-Membership Certificate), which is mandatory for spice exports from India. This registration confirms:

  • The exporter is compliant with Indian export regulations
  • Products are eligible for government quality inspection before export
  • The exporter can access government export promotion schemes

Buyers in USA, UK, and EU should insist on APEDA-registered suppliers for traceability and compliance confidence. Daley Global's RCMC number is 29301.

What quality tests should spices pass before export from India?

Reputable exporters test every batch for:

  • Moisture content
  • Volatile oil content
  • Curcumin content (for turmeric — minimum 2% for standard grade)
  • Microbial analysis: Total Plate Count, Yeast & Mould, Salmonella, E. coli
  • Heavy metals: Lead, Cadmium, Arsenic, Mercury
  • Pesticide residue (MRL compliance for destination country)
  • Aflatoxin levels
  • Ash content and acid insoluble ash

Regulatory standards by market:

  • USA: FDA 21 CFR Part 110/111; FSMA compliance
  • EU: EC 1881/2006 contaminant limits; EC 396/2005 pesticide MRLs
  • UK: UK Food Standards Agency requirements

Always request a COA from an accredited third-party laboratory — not an in-house test. Daley Global provides third-party tested COAs for every shipment.

What is the difference between FOB and CIF pricing for spice imports?

  • FOB (Free On Board): Exporter covers all costs until the goods are loaded onto the vessel at the origin port. You pay ocean freight and insurance from that point.
  • CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight): Exporter covers cost, insurance, and freight to your destination port. You pay import duties and local delivery only.

Most Indian spice exporters quote FOB Mumbai/Nhava Sheva. CIF quotes are available on request. First-time importers often prefer CIF as it simplifies logistics — your exporter handles freight booking and insurance.

Daley Global provides both FOB and CIF quotations. Contact us for a quote →
